Encrypted data transmission is particularly important for wireless communication. Encryption can be used to prevent unauthorized listening to the radio interface and evaluating the data. The Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is a procedure approved for the highest level of secrecy. The algorithm is freely available and may be used without license fees. Virtenio’s Preon32 radio module includes a hardware AES implementation that enables fast processing of data blocks. In the PreonVM this function is easy to use.

In this example, a data block with a length of 16 bytes is encrypted and decrypted according to the AES-ECB-128Bit procedure.
