Description
The PreonGate IRIDIUM Gateway with GPS functionality establishes the connection between any PreonCube and the Virtenio online portal. It uses a mobile radio connection and transmits the data of the numerous measuring points, such as those of PreonCube Logistics Advanced, to the online portal PreonLive . The PreonCubes also transmit their data wirelessly via IEEE 802.15.4, so all communication from the sensor to the cloud is wireless. IEEE 802.15.4 serves Virtenio’s cubes and gateways as a universal framework format for simple point-to-point communication protocols up to 6LoWPAN (multi-hop network) with duty cycling (optional). For operation, the gateway uses a powerful lithium-ion accumulator, which enables operation for several weeks independent of the mains supply. The battery can also be recharged during operation via a USB-A socket. The closed housing allows the use under demanding environmental conditions. The data can be analyzed and exported via the PreonLive online portal using a web browser. This allows you to monitor your remote measurement cubes from any PC, smartphone or tablet with Internet access and have an overview of their local environmental conditions at all times (24/7).
Connectivity
The PreonGate IRIDIUM Gateway connects the local Virtenio radio network directly to the IP-based Internet. As a result, there are no local requirements for the communication infrastructure worldwide. There is no need for additional hardware, software or power supply. The PreonGate IRIDIUM gateway is prepared for future applications in the area of “Internet of Things and Services” and can be updated to support 6LoWPAN (Multi-Hop functionality) via IEEE 802.15.4 via a software update.
